All sounds normal to me. I just fire and forget until they say interview, then I get interested. Jobs may get canned or they never get approval (agencies start putting CV's together just in case). I don't take it personally, do what you can in responding to the ad, talking on the phone when they call and then try to forget about it.
Only way to fly and stay sane I reckon.

Generally I can spend 8-15 minutes on the calls. (I am a service desk\support team manager), the worst offeders are computer futures and computer people. others just dont call back. Or you hear nothing after applying.
I've never seen the market so cloak and dagger. As it is now. it used to be all up front.

it could also be that you haven't sold yourself enough when they phone and they put forward other people. Come up with a bit of a patter and highlight your key projects in thhe minute or so you have wiTh them

It sounds like they just want your cv as a means to acquiring new potential clientco's. The tell tale signs of a cacky agency are that they hide their telephone number when they call you, then if you do manage to get their office number, you'll get through to their 'call screener' who checks to see if the agent you want to talk to is available. Then, having 'checked' they tell you that the agent is either out of office, or on another call, or away from their desk etc...
Decent agencies wouldn't treat you in they way you have mentioned.

getting plenty of introduction calls...... then nothing
Hi There
Still on the bench, have been since end march
The past two weeks have seen an upsurge in calls, from agencies, telling me about roles etc, "we'll put your CV forward"... get an email from them with job description on it. reply stating fine go ahead.....
then nothing. if I call back it's .... we're still reviewing, or they've not got back to me yet.... one even called me last thursday and stated
"they are very keen to set-up a phone interview"... .still nothing. Do all these supposed jobs exist on Jobserve, cwjobs and total jobs, or are they just agency number generators?Tags: None
