    You must be mighty confident that your skills are in demand, if I were the agent I'd replace you with someone who doesn't kick up a fuss. Asking for a shorter notice period sends a certain message don't you think?

    There seems to be trend with new contractors where they seem to think contracting is all about suiting their immediate needs rather than building business relationships and trust.

    Simple answer is this. If you do not renegotiate, I am giving notice today. Unless you simply want the money. If you want the money, stop complaining. If you want the flexibility, then stand up, be a man, and say you want it. You can always in any contract renegotiate, you just need the balls to attempt it.

    BTW, getting money in lieu of notice period is a big no no for IR35. And that's advice from contract review specialists.

    Hi- I have a 1 month notice period in my contract. Mine is a 3 months rolling contract with the agency. It seems unfair- the notice period is at my disadvantage as I lose out on other contract opportunities where you have to join in a week's notice.
    What's an ideal notice period for such short term contracts?
