Seems to be a bit like that - but in typical fashion all the Contractors here seems to be new or slightly used models and as such are a bit unaware so just plod on with the job in hand.

Make no mistake though it is the best setting for a gig I've ever had

Has anybody else experienced this sort of thing with Barclays ?
Spoke to an agent today about a London based role at Barclays, exactly the same terms. Agent said it was the Barclays 'take it or leave ot approach' Was also asked to sign opt out form now and provide 2 refs by the agency.

Role does sound good and the above would not stop me taking it, except I am just accepting extension to current contract as per posting yesterday.

You got fired for sexual harassment?

You jacked off at your desk?

    You stalked loads of women?

    Am I close?

I'm currently at Barclays, on my third stint, but have always been London based. The contract terms are standard and have been for years. As others have said, if you have a good relationship with the people you're working with notice isn't an issue. However if the project goes tango uniform or you screw up then you'll be out on your ear. Which is to be expected - you're a contractor after all.

To be honest, isn't a no-notice contract a good indicator for IR35? No permie would get those terms. My contract is also no-notice on my side, there's an exemption clause that removes the 4 week/1 month notice period.

Yeah, the posters are right. I've done several contracts there and its a good place to get some experience and people work quite hard. But the 52 week rule is the norm although there are some exceptions. The easiest thing is to leave, do something else, and then go back.

At the end of the day, if you really wanted out of your contract there, they usually won't stop you if you're fairly genuine and good about it. If you are messing them around they'll remember and be difficult about it.

If 'no notice' is good then go for it, else negotiate
No, it's not "no notice" mutually. it's "no notice" for them to ditch you, but "infinite notice" from the contractors position.
