A good friend of mine was convicted of a fairly serious offence in 1998 and still got clearance. As logn as the network abuse wasn't allowing Osama Bin Laden free and open access to an MOD site, I am sure you'll be grand. They don't even ask for the information you have offered up, so only decklare it if you feel you need to. Personally, I wouldn't unless asked.

To be honest, I don't want to know what the OP did to a network cable or socket.Originally posted by Stan.goodvibes View PostReally? did you really think you could put the generic phrase network abuse in a thread and not expect to have to tell us what it was??
Come on, spill the beans

Does the SC Application process ask you to declare any activity to which you do not have a criminal conviction? If not, then don't need to declare it on the SC application.Originally posted by Hector1 View PostI was booted from college for Network Abuse issues (my employers do not know about this), and am now in an IT related job that at some point I will probably need to get SC clearance for.
Obviously I hugely regret the whole incident now, I dont have a criminal record etc.
Aslong as I'm honest about this (although they dont ask anything about education on the form), will it affect my ability to get clearance?
Thanks in advance
Are you in a position where you are looking after the client's network? Well, you may wish to let the client know about your transgression if you really want to be honest. But you will need to bear in mind that the client may, depending on the transgression, frog march you out the door.
As long as you have not done anything wrong in your commercial career that has lead to dismissal for gross misconduct, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure some of us have done something wrong in our past.
