didn't pass the £10 per day onto you

You've been there 12 months. A 10% rate rise is a perfectly reasonable request.

Edit: It is reasonable to demand an inflation increase of between 3.2% and 4.5%, depending upon your view.

Your contract is with Agent number 1 and any negotiations need to be with them, tell them you need more money or your walking (obviously you will need to be prepared to walk), you could try telling the client you may not be able to continue and they may put pressure on from above however at the end of the day your deal is with agent 1 not them

The chances are Agent 2 will not deal with you anyway and he may even suggest to the client you are rocking the boat and he can find someone else, i would think that the second agent is the clients prefered supplier.

So many people forget that their contract is with the agent regardless of whether your Ltd or umbrella and any deal done further up the chain between agents and clients as nothing to do with you.

you could always ask them why they pulled the offer as well

    Going Through 2 Agents

Hi I have been in the same contract since Jan 2010 and have had a 3 and 6 month renewal which ends on 31st Dec 2010. I have found out from day one that I am going through 2 agents and then the client. Due to the client having no monies and the price of fuel I asked my agent to reduce their margins last renewal which they initially agreed to a rise of £10 a day. They then withdraw this offer.I am thinking of contacting the other agent which deals directly with the client to obtain a small rate rise as only 2 parties will then be involved and not 3. I have been given a further 3 months and this could go on for at least another 6 months after that. What would be the problem with attempting these types of manoeuvres. Can my agent take me to court or don't they have a leg to stand on? Please help I feel a little trapped as to what to do. I may leave the entire contract but I do now feel a level of obligation and commitment to the end customer. Thanks in advance.
