Clients who deal with contractors know that if there is a delay for whatever reason you may accept another contract.

I recently worked for a client who I turned down working with due to them taking too long to sort out a contract the first time then not being available the next 4 times.

The advantage you have of going to the interview is that you get the end clients name they get your name so next time you can both cut out any agency.

Hey... so i have just got a new gig, to start in the next week (papers still not received to sign though).

A few weeks ago, i applied for another contract with a different agency. The pimp has only just phoned me back to say the client are interested, and want to interview me.

So am thinking go to the interview anyway, with not much intention of accepting it if offered, just so i can get the clients name + a contact name so i can contact them again _directly_ in the future.

Now, if you were attending this interview as the other one isn't quite yet "in the bag", then fine.

As pointed out before, it's not "in the bag" until it's signed and you're on site. Contracts can and do get pulled before you get to start.

Personally, I'd go for the interview whilst telling the agent I was waiting on hearing back from other interviews.

And turning down a contract doesn't automatically exclude you from working there in the future. I turned down a role 3 times with one place in the space of 4 years due to a variety of reasons, of which money was never one, and always gave them feedback as to why I didn't accept and after the 4th offer the circumstances were right for both parties so I took it. An interview isn't just for them to see if what you have to offer is suitable it's also for you to see if what they have is suitable for you.

Three months from now... You phone the client who's time you wasted when they first offered you a job but you turned it down: "Hi there, I'm the idiot who wasted your time three months ago when you offered me a contract. If you remember, I was the one who basically told you to go and fook yourselves? Well, I'm back on the market now and want a job. Can I have the one I turned down three months ago, please? Oh, and let's bypass the agency you are using." That should go down real well.

Now, if you were attending this interview as the other one isn't quite yet "in the bag", then fine. But please, don't go ahead with it with the unprofessional attitude you seem to be displaying above.

You can't be sure you have the the gig until your first timesheet has been invoiced and paid.

Of course you keep going to interviews.
