Besides they'll achieve just as much by not being there

Yeap that sounds about right. If you're feeling like that at this early stage, do yourself a favour, and terminate the contract, now. I did after 1 month and it was the best thing I ever did. Will never go back to public sector, would rather stack shelves in Tesco

Public sector

Why is it that workers in the public sector are so unaccountable and get away with so much?

I am 4 weeks into this gig and I am encountering:

* Attempts to make everyone equal
* Childish kindergatan mentality
* Over cautiousness. Projects are planned from a "worst case" perspective so that no-one gets mad if they over-run and the project team can look good if we "manage" to pull the dates in!!
