All large banks have a master agency in place and will never contract directly
unless you are a large supplier or sell specialist software like IBM or Accenture,
in which case you'd have to go through a long vendor selection process....

This is all to protect their exposure/risk to claims for unfair dismisal etc.

Hays "look after" contractors for many banks. Anyone who is direct ends up going through Hays. Anyone who comes via a different agency still goes through that agency, but that agency's contract is with Hays.

So you end up with yet another party and yet another contract in the mix.

You will find that Hays dictate the payment terms and payment frequency and that your agency probably just pays you when Hays pays them. It's not ideal at all, but most banks work like this.

I think they have their fingers in many pies I've just been offered a banking role (first one, the form filling is putting me off though) and noticed Hays were involved.

When I spoke to the agent it's because they (hays) look after all of the contractors details, regardless of which agency places them.

Is it background checks or are they looking to hold your personal information while in this contract?

Things is, that Hays isn't the agency I went though.

I was wondering where Hays is involved?

most agencies outsource this work to a screening company like risk advisory group

The Risk Advisory Group - Employee screening and drug testing

  • Background Screening Consent Form, First Advantage/HAYS

Just been sent a consent for from the pimp asking for my permission to allow HAYS/First Advantage to perform some background checks.

I though HAYS were a recruitment agency, anyone familiar with the setup?

Are they contracted in-house to perform the checks for the client?

Its another banking role and they are very tight on security issues.
Working...
