Voting Labour, cos I do have a social conscience and because from a personal point of view, the Conservatives are committed to slashing public spending which will include a large number of IT projects and expenditure which I am \ hope to be working on.
Labour is my preferred political party (despite all it's recent 'issues') but in addition to this I don't like the all pervading '"Let the market decide" attitude that is consistent with Conservative governments, and yes I do remember Thatcher's government vividly as well as the last major recession in 1990 where pretty much everyone except big business was left to fend for themselves. For a recession of the magnitude we are in, all is not as bad as you would think it would be.

Clearly they are all fighting for the middle ground and it's unlikely to make a huge difference whichever crew gets in, they are just council employees i.e. largely clueless, after all - BUT - Does anyone here still think growing the public sector to become such a massive drain on resources is a great idea ? 27% of people now work for the various flavours and yes a decent proportion are required to keep things going but everyone knows it is an inefficient black hole that will consume every penny available with precious little return and has done so through all the good years. Start with an immediate recruitment freeze and a 10% pay cut (see ireland for details). If you want to leave and take your chances in the private sector - help yourself !
Even without IR35, the total dependancy culture and desire to make us all equal, this takes Labour off the choice !
Libdems want to shrink the city, idiots, this generates the revenue to support the whole thing, forget the bash the banks bandwagon !

It's a tough decision for me - on the upside, I stand to make a good chunk of money if Labour stay in and things continue as normal - I have a number of contractors placed who can't have contracts raised until post election. On the downside, I do think it's time for this country to have a change - I'd never Vote tory, I grew up as one of Thatchers children, and vividly remember the challenges faced by by folks when we were kids - I also think Cameron is a weak, slimy little sod.
That leaves me (and I suspect a number of other people) with the Lib Dems. On the downside, they've never been in power, and it will potentially confuse all of the projects I work on. However, Nick Clegg makes a good point, 100bn on a nuclear deterrant, which could feasibly be no use to the country given the wars we are fighting, is a poor commitment of money - especially given that we've got 3 years to make that decision.

No I am still the same old selfish capitalist b*astard.
No I am not on a guilt trip and looking for an easy way out for my conscience.
It's just that I have my nose in the Nuclear trough and my personal wealth will be affected by who gets in. labour's policy is already in place and I am happy with it.
