- I'm approaching my first renewal.
- Project is very high visibility and on a deadline, and going to the dogs slightly.
- Only other contractor and permie with specialist knowledge are leaving shortly.
- I'm not particularly enjoying the contract and have a few potential offers. Would walk with not much thought.
Question is, is there any downside to negotiating for a big hike? I'm slightly under market rate and looking for around 50% increase. I have my suspicions they would pay it.
Would asking for big spike like this have any downsides?
My bind is that I genuanilly can't be arsed at +20%, whereas I have my price at +50%. At the same time, I don't want to look like I'm trying it on, and possibly burning a future opportunity with a company (though not a project) where I could have some good future prospects.
Any thoughts?
