I updated my cv online 3 weeks ago and the phone never stopped. 2 interviews and one job offer which I am taking.

Can't comment on the practitioner side of things but on the test management side the market has deteriorated significantly (from an already horrific state) over the last month or so.
It's far worse that 2001/2 which is something I thought I'd never see. The only plus side is that it can't get any worse than this; my phone isn't ringing from one week to the next.
Fortunately for me, I'm in a strong position financially and mentally I feel ok because even during my last contract I was looking seriously at potential plan b's. I'm increasingly focusing on launching a new business with a former colleague but will go for one more roll of the dice in Oct. If Oct is dead then I personally wouldn't expect much/any movement until April.

Hi, I'm new here.
I've been looking for a new test contract for two months and am getting absolutely nowhere. It's dreadful out there. You check the ads for a "test" contract only to find they actually want programming experience (in other words, they're after a developer on the cheap).
I send my cv whenever something looks vaguely relevant, never get a call back, chase the agent, who fobs me off and I never hear from them again.
It's seriously worrying.

Don't book any expensive holidays or make any other high cost purchases.

I'm not looking for a new contract, but I do have a quick browse of js each week, and it looks dire to me. Also I'm getting hardly any calls from agents.
I think it looks worse than it's looked all year.
I really believed that it would pick up towards the end of September but couldn't have been more wrong.
Best of luck to anyone looking for a testing role at the moment!
