Security clearance, counter productive.

I'm not saying they are bad but it seems having a high level clearance is more important than having the skills to do the job in hand.

The job spec says “candidates holding or have held high level security clearance in the past are welcome to apply” a quick phone call tells me otherwise.

RSignals squaddies aren't all bad. I wasn't one but I know a few and they're generally good people.

I’m have SC, I’m already on the site in the job spec, I know the people in the team, I’ve held DV in the past... but they won’t look at me as I don’t currently hold DV.

It’s a shame they’ll end up with an ex signals squaddie by default just because he has the required paperwork rather than a person with relevant experience who would jump through hoops to land that gig.

Makes me mad.
