Re: euro journal
Many thanks nhbuc. Your help has been much appreciated. I've been also looking at the sites like 'Rentacoder' etc. but the jobs advertised on these sites seem to be the jobs that pay peanuts that nobody else wants. What I am looking for is a site similar to the 'rentacoder' style but has sensible work offers that allow software to be developed without having to physically be in the same country as the client.
In my contracting experience only about 50% of contracts won have *really* required my presence on-site, the other 50% could just have easily been done remotely (with maybe occasional site visits required). The off-site type of contracts are the ones that I am looking for.
Many thanks again,
D

All Public sector contracts within the EU have to be published in the Euro Journal - technically I think its called Schedule S to the official publication of the European union
ted.publications.eu.int/o...ml&Lang=EN
You are not very likely to win anything on here, but it tells you what is going on and gives contacts, so you can find out who does get the deal and try to get in with them.

The point about outsourcing is that companies are managing risk as well as the cost that everyone thinks about. They go through a tendering process and usually want not just a deliverable, but ongoing support, training, etc. If you have ever been involved in a tendering process you will appreciate the costs involved for all parties. That level of invstment and the timescales involved (Ive seen several projects where negotiations prior to award went on with 5 parties for 18 months) are beyond the scope of a body shifting agency.
People like Parity went into consultancy from recruitment and all the big players went into it from the consultancy side.
Your best bet is probably to get in with the consultancies, because they do buy in specialist expertise. If you have comodity skills expect to work for peanuts. If you are a small company then build vendor relationships/certification and tout development alongside your other services.

Outsourcing specialist agency?
Hello all,
I'm thinking of looking into providing outsourced development work to UK-based companies. Does anyone know of an Agency/company or whatever that supplies these type of intro's etc?
