OpenTravel is looking for a temporary, part-time technical resource. If interested, please contact valyn.perini (at) opentravel.org.
The technical resource’s primary responsibility is to provide XML expertise to OpenTravel project teams, work groups and committees.
Responsibilities:
• Drafts, edits and manages the specification created by project teams or modified by work groups
• Drafts, distributes and posts meeting notices, agendas, and minutes for work groups, Interoperability Committee and all sub-committees on OpenTravel wiki
• Distributes comments to appropriate work groups and tracks outcome of each comment
• Answers technical questions from members regarding the specification
• Leads technical discussions and actively participates in work groups, project teams, Interoperability Committee and Data Content/Best Practices Sub-Committee
• Provides support to OpenTravel as requested by the OpenTravel executive director
Requirements:
• Advanced knowledge of XML
• Advanced knowledge of OpenTravel XML schema structure
• Project management experience in order to manage multiple players, priorities and milestones
• Basic knowledge of web services technologies
• Must speak, read and write fluent business and technical English
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to work to strict timelines and deliver within budgeted time allocation
• Experience with MS Office, project management software and XMLSpy
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is preferred; relevant advanced degree, coursework or certifications a plus
Job Characteristics:
• The position is virtual. Individual must be available to work from 9:00am US eastern through 5:00pm US eastern, but scheduled hours may vary as needed by project teams and work groups
• The position will require only limited travel, as agreed on by resource and executive director. OpenTravel will pay travel expenses
• Individual must have access to high-speed internet, a work environment and a phone line
• Part-time contract position, approximately 60 hours per month starting 1 uly 2009 through 31 March 2010
