So maybe things are picking up in the developers' world; hope it's testers next.
Being a tester too, yes lets hope. From my experiance, testing very dead up here in the North East and west - all gigs seem to be London and South West.
i just started a 3 month contract, and have another contract lined up that will start as soon as this one has ended (continuation of an old project, so i'm the preferred choice).
also a friend finished his contract of 18 months last friday, had an interview on monday and has been offered a contract (this was a cold call from an agent rather than through an existing contact).
rates a little down but everyone i know seems to be in work and, reassuringly, finding new work.
I feel like the prospects are better at the mo - I have an interview on Tuesday, and possibly another next week I am waiting to hear back from the agent (an old friend & colleague).
I've had interviews during my time off (which also started in January) but these prospects seem the most likely yet... (or in desparation am I just fooling myself!)
Well done, I'm in the same arena and yes - the rates are tulipe. Will they ever recover? Well, at least we're back out there again (I bagged one today as well).
Actually the market has gone nuts for me in the last week (general .net asp programming), nothing for 5 months (yes since January!) and then 6 prospective jobs within commuting distance (Southampton) 3 offers of interviews, went to 2 and got offered both jobs, accepted the one closest to home.
Now, the bad news. Rates are atrocious, down by at least 30% on what I was on before Christmas, but at least I am working again.
It has been good to have this bulletin board to read each day and know that I have not been alone in being out of work, so thanks to all of those who have been honest about their experiences with agents, cv advice etc and good luck to all of us.
