it is a legal requirement to check references if you opt in. But they don't have to do it before you interview/get an offer.

Just received this one accompanied by a form requesting FOUR references.....

As part of the SLA i cannot put any CV's forward to my client unless i have previously referenced them, this is a very quick conversation with your test manager in order to validate your previous experience"
