    Recovering unpaid invoice

    I posted a while ago, basically in a nutshell I did a gig and left after day #1.. there was a 0 day notice clause in the contract.

    Sent in an invoice for 1 days work all the same to the agency, got nothing back etc.

    After chasing them for this, they have now responded to say that because I didn't send back the signed contract before the gig started, this means they won't pay.

    The contract was sent out to me already signed by the agency on the Friday.. my signature was on there the same day, I did the gig Monday, then left Monday night. Where would I stand legally on this? Surely the fact I have a signed contract with 2 signatures on with a stated start date constitutes a contract, and therefore they are in breach by not paying?
