Finders Fee??

Here is the question, could the agency that got me the inital 3 month gig (12 months ago), ask for a 'finders fee'? If so, what is the norm?

Hang on, has everyone else got the wrong end of the stick and you're asking if they could charge YOU a finders fee?

If so, no, I believe that only certain types of agencies (e.g. modelling agencies) can charge a fee for their services to the jobseeker.

Ive heard of this happen twice in a situation I was close to and on both occasions the agencys were not paid anything. I can only suspect that this was due to the fact that the agency had 300 and around 125 contractors on site and wouldnt really want to piss the client off.

Been Extended for another 2 months taking me to the back end of Feb, when the job maybe made into a Permie post.

I am concidering taking it, although this is not definate as it would depend on the contract the client offered.

The norm is that they try to charge the same as if they had placed you without the "trial" period.

Not all companies are savvy enough to negotiate this charge away.

It depends what has been agreed between client and agency, but I suspect that in most cases those agreements would require a further fee if a contingent worker is made permanent.

Otherwise, clients would only ever recruit contingent workers with the possibility of turning them permanent, to avoid paying the agencies permie fees.

Of course, the client may be able to negotiate.
