    I would just add if its likely to involve a lot of "all nighters" as my role does, you may need to consider how it will impact on your personal life. Things like sleeping during the day, not going out at weekends, family commitments etc, etc can be hard to adapt to.
    Totally agree. I've provided out of hours support before when I was a Permie. So I know the score there. There are 7 people participating in the rota so it shouldn't get too hectic.

    At my org, OOH support rates vary from 1.5 to 3

    It gets more dear after 10pm. Probably easier to stick to x2 and be done with it.

    OOH can be very debilitating if you don't plan for it properly

    Not had this issue much in recent years, but in the past I've agreed to double rate and time charged "working from home" which amounts to time off in lieu.

    It's not too tricky to reach an agreement.

    I was in a similar position 6 months ago, though more because there was some "interesting" things going on out of hours. As Blacjac said I asked what the permies got, and that ranged from 1.3x to 3.0x hourly rate depending on time of day, and day of week. That sounded far to complicated for me so offered 2.0x hourly rate for anything out of my contracted hours and that was instantly accepted.

    If it's genuinely not a money making excercise, then ask the permies what deal they get and apply the same to your contract.
