security Checks

SC is normally referred to Security Clearance. This is often needed for government contracts that requires you to access classified / confidential or above information. It basically checks your credibility / honesty, etc.

My current employer has just finished my security clearnce and all is ok. what i want to know is, for my new role would i have to start the process all over again to be securtiy cleared or can i get some kind of paperwork from my current employer that has my security clearance?

Don't knock it. Hang onto SC clearance and you'll ride out the recession.

That assumes of course that you're not out of a Cleared role for 12 months at which point it automatically lapses.
Believe me Clearance isn't an automatic meal ticket either.

I'm at TfL and no security clearance was needed. Is it per chance via CSC as I believe they clear staff as a matter of course?

I doubt that TfL will need SC clearance (although it's entirely possible given that the Underground and rail stations are good terrorist targets), it's more likely they will need one of the lesser checks like CTC done.
