Three Agencies - one role

Getting really silly now - I have been approached by 6 different agencies in totally - Agency 1 submitted CV last week.

Agency 6, who I have worked for in the past called me back to say they have spoken to Clinet who has not seen my CV - so Agency 6 want to send CV and if they like me I will have a telephone interview this week. They say it does not matter if CV submitted already - they will speak to clinet and recommend me as they will be my reference.

Called Agency 1 who said they have submitted but do not expect to hear back until mid week, but will chase today.

Oh well - let the battle of the agencies begin.

Hopefully I may get a call over a totally different role.

I disagree. The last thing you want is not to be put forward at all, or to be put forward solely by an agency that has no relationship with the client and whose CVs automatically end up in the bin.

My method isn't 100% guaranteed, but you are taking a leap in the dark and I think it gives you the best chance of getting through the process. I would rather be argued over by 2 agencies than 0.

If the client is well known, they probably have an official way of sorting out multiple submissions. Well-known clients often attract a few chancer agencies, who see the proper approved agencies' adverts and then put out identical ads of their own, in the hope of bagging the decent candidates and getting a foot in the door. (Deutsche Bank used to be the prime example of this, I don't know if it still is).

Best thing to do is be honest with all the agencies - e.g. say to abc agency "Yes I am interested but xyz say they have already put me forward". Then abc will either say "oh well, better leave alone", or "what the heck! xyz aren't on the approved agency list" (which may or may not be true...). But this way, as long as at least one of the agencies is telling the truth, you're probably OK.

As long as the second agency understand that if you get the job, then it's up to them to sort out with the client which agency they go through. Last thing you want is to get drawn into that.

Client is a well known automotive company in the midlands and have several roles at the moment.

I would never knowing allow my CV to be put foward by more then one agency as I would then stand no chance, hence my standard phase to agents at the moment-"If the client is XXXX I have already been put forward for that role"

Prehaps it is due to the fact I am local and Cheep

1) Not necessarily. Are you going to get all the agencies to put you forward for it? Not something I would do, but you need to make sure that the first agancy really has put your name forward, which they don't always do.

2) Not necessarily. If the skillset is niche, then they still may not be able to find anyone. I had five agencies contact me about the same role recently, because they couldn't find anyone and I was one of the few people that could do it. That said, it could be that you are up against the world and his wife.

3) Not necessarily. See (2) above.

I think Xen is having his balls worked on, so they may be crystal.

Aaarrgghh.

Have been contacted by three agencies regarding a role - however I have already been put forward for the role by another agency.

Does this mean
1) I stand a good chance
2) as there are so many agencies involved there will be a load of people chasing the same role
3) The Rate is c**p so not many people are going for it.

Anyone there got balls of crystal?
