Then we agree to putting me forward for a role and he starts "Let me tell you the way we work. We're different from other people in that we throughly check candidates before sending them to the clients which means we need two references from you before we can proceed".

I had EXACTLY the same line from Harvey Gash, seemed like a really genuine bloke, really honest, then he dropped that exact line and rather than telling him he is a @@@@@@@@@@@ i just bit my lip and hung up

I'm suprised. I worked for them 2 years ago, and found they were pretty good on that occasion. I always suspected they were taking quite a large cut though...

I've had it from Huxley and Allegis. With Allegis I spoke to a nice guy on a couple of occasions, and I know this sounds naive but I really did think he seemed genuine and not just a salesman trying it on. Then we agree to putting me forward for a role and he starts "Let me tell you the way we work. They themselves are one of the worst

Some bint at Progressive tried it with me last week, in fact it was for a client about this time last year, she even had my ex-boss's name but came out with a line about, "Are there any other managers in the company who we shouldn't contact so as not to tread on toes?"

Yeah, right, THAT old fcuking chestnut!!

Had another one yesterday morning, initially well planned as I didn't hear any of the usual call-centre noise in the background (times must be tough!), but soon laughed my balls off in her ears when I deliberately quoted my last client in initials "The CA Group" and, dohhh, she THEN actually flat out asked me what 'CA' stood for!!

Christ I must have heard every single trick in the book. I should write an article about the scams these losers try out.

I have had a couple of agents use that ploy this time round.

I can't remember the first one but the one that did it to me yesterday was Celcius (UK) Ltd. Anyone heard of them? It ended with the guy saying he would have to end the conversation as I wasnt prepared to give any. He then had the cheek to send me an invite to his network on LinkedIn......did he honestly expect me to accept?!
