Seems to be a bit of a mixed bag then in terms of current market conditions.
I really hope it is more to do with the time of year than economic pessimism.

lukemg - Do you think this is because ITIL implementations are being cancelled or postponed or if it is down to the time of year?
If it is seasonal, when do you imagine the market will improve?

I am on the ITIL SDM side also, market is quiet, few more on the perm side which is normal for this area. Planning to get my Prince2 done to open up project manager side a bit more. Might have to go perm, waiting for a call about one today - it's harsh but if the market isn't offering anything you have to consider options.

There seem to be plenty of permie jobs advertised for consultancies - as usual they want loads of experience and offer poor pay.
I'm wondering if the balance is shifting - consultancies are trying to force people into employment because they can make more from permies, and anyone who doesn't want to be permie isn't biting.

I've also found that this last week things have picked up immensely. And no, I'm not London, SE.

I am from an ITIL Service background and am returning to the market after an absence of a few years and it seems fairly quite.
Is it due to all the recent news regarding the economy or is it due to the time of the year in which case when do more vacancies tend to come through?
Fairly quite?
The market is not too bad at the moment imho
