seconded.. vat is not your money, it's HMRC's, so when discussing your rate whether a quote for a work project, a hourly or daily rate with either an agent or end business or even when having manhood comparing competitions with other contractors about what you earn, VAT is never included within the rate and always assumed it's added on top.

What about agents? If I'm quoted a rate of 34 per hour is that including VAT?

IMO, they will expect your rate to be ex-vat and be added to your invoices.

    Discussing daily rate and VAT....

    Hi,

I've been in discussions regarding a contract with a outsourcing company when the subject of rate came up. I stated my daily rate and this was agreed as not being a problem. I didn't charge VAT on my last contract as I wasn't registered but I am now.

My question is -will the outsourcing company expect VAT be added to the daily rate or should I have made it clear that my daily rate was 'plus VAT' ?

Working...
