    £600/day will get you a good freelance technologist who knows his way around banking world but isn't an expert. The big name consultancies will do you somebody almost as good for £1600.

    I'm interviewing Java developers (finance) at the moment and the quality AND quantity coming through isn't that great.

    What's the going rate atm for senior developers for solid J2SE (J2EE not necessary)?
