That was my point, you don't have to leave for sunnier climes to find a better c++ market. I realised you weren't in London as you were trying to find a stronger c++ market.

About leaving family:

I would go abroad (somewhere with a stronger marked) to do this, travelling home in the week-ends. So it is important that it really is a good career investment.

First. Besides answer to the question. It would be nice with some general idea about how to figure out this kind of things.

I have some ideas about what would strengthen my CV. For example I think a good ~6 month C++ project would consolidate previous experience, and make me stronger in the marked. I feel ~3 months wouldn't make much difference, and that i don't need much more than 6 months.

I have about 2y C++ spread over the years, no long periods. (I have pure C and other OO languages in addition)

Amking the right decision is quite important, as I might leave my family to get this kind of project. I did something similar with .NET once, but then it didn't help since all the work was ASP.NET and web/ASP/Microsoft background was quite important.
(This also means I have will have a good excuse that I didnt stay longer than 6 months)
