I have contracted at BA / IAG a few years ago, Waterside was run down then so I imagine it's slowly getting worse. Agent who sent me there before said the days of outside IR35 have long gone now.
Parking as mentioned yes the dreaded nature reserve car park where people can park inconsiderately or the council randomly don't unlock the gates in the morning. I used to rent a room within walking distance so I wasn't affected but I knew some contractors would pay £10 (in those days) daily parking fee at the Thistle hotel nearby.

Yes I have, pre-panemic. Waterside is a nice building but getting a bit run down, has a little museum and a small Sainsbury's.You won't be allowed to use the main car park but there are free council car parks nearby for the nature reserve which have really evil width restrictors that can damage your alloy wheels if you're not careful. Otherwise it's a shuttle from T5 station. BA staff were good to work with, interesting work but it's very bureaucratic and they have some ancient systems. Would work there again.
You don't get any perks unless you are a BA permie.Last edited by plutocrat; 10 January 2025, 08:38.

Wasn't for BA but I had a brief stint in Gatwick Airport and got offered staff parking (which I didn't take up as I used the train). I accidentally stumbled upon a staff discount scheme while buying a coffee in the South Terminal when they saw my ID and gave me the discount.
Incidentally, don't wear your ID when anywhere near passengers or they will start asking you questions.

Contractors don't get staff perks like discounted travel.
If you're working at the airport, and get given a Heathrow Airport ID badge, then you may be able to claim 75% discount on Heathrow Express tickets (if ticket checked you will need to have your Airport ID on you to prove eligibility). I don't know if that discount still exists. When I used to live in Kensington and was travelling to the airport each day, you used to be able to select the staff discounted ticket in the HEX app from the list of railcard, etc discounts. This discount was for all airport workers, and wouldn't be an IR35 red flag.

Is the location the airport itself or Waterside, which is close but not exactly the same.
BA aren't bad to work with, I know a few people who have worked there over the years.
I have worked with Heathrow Airport a lot (current gig is there) and have always found the BA people on the projects I've been involved with to be quite nice and keen to get stuff done.

Not me but I worked with someone who had worked for them previously, Outside, no perks (obviously) but said they were pretty decent to work for

Outside IR35 and receiving perks??? Anyway like with all companies it's only for perms.
OK I had one perk at Easyjet I could park at the staff carpark, saving me some money when I flew from Luton

Has anyone contracted at British Airways
Has anyone contracted at British Airways, either inside or outside IR35?
What's it like to work there (location is Heathrow)? Any perks, such as flight discounts or is that only for permanent staff?
thanks
