I had an interview 'all lined up' a couple of weeks ago with Reed, promptly didn't hear from the pimp with the time/date/location as was promised - rang him a couple of time and he didn't respond to my messages
I appreciate that things can change at the client end, but not to respond in any way is completely unacceptable; but exactly what I expect from Agencies these days. It does however make we feel 100% not guilty if I choose to **** any of them over at any time; most of them deserve nothing less than contempt
I've had experience of Reed advertising a contract that was only ever going to be given to me - the client (central gov) had to re-advertise the contract position to renew my contract. They had to get 3 CVs from 3 different agencies - they were alwasy going to pick out Reed and myself (and Reed knew what was going on).
I'm a PM and you'd think that Agents would at least have the sense to realise that this might happen if they treat people they way they do - unfortunately they don't - my black list is very long these days, I was recruiting at my last contract and didn't use the agent I was working through because they couldn't pay me on time
I am a PM too and you would think that agents would become savvy to the fact that a) we need to recruit for projects and might use them if they were good enough and b) we get to see all the figures and can calulate their margins!!
There will be a day when I am recruiting for a company or myself and come across an agent who is on my black list, I will ensure that they do not get mine or my clients business in no uncertain terms..

To be honest I wouldn't have sent him a email saying how shoddy he was etc, you never know when you'll need him/them. I got f*cked over by an agency big style a few years ago, had a job in f/furt lined up had the offer, booked my flights then they 'recruited internally, we're ever so sorry'. I couldn't be @rsed looking into legal implictaions blah blah but I felt like turning up at their office & having a 'chat' with the pimp. 2 yrs later I ended up working for him/them again... he's still a k*nt though

Quality...I do agree - you have to bite your tongue very hard. However I keep a list of agents who have been unprofessional or not done me any favours, wasted my time etc as they are just as unloyal to their employers so I find they move around a lot.

Had an agent ring me yesterday, role sounded ok and location was a bit too far, I told him I might consider it for the right money, turned out the rate was better than Im on now but didnt really justify the journey still.
Anyway the client wanted me in for an interview, so I told the agent when I could do it but said I need to look at their location and decide whether the journey is worth it.
He tells me that I'm the only one going for the interview and it's here for the taking.
Anyway he send me the job spec I open an email and I scroll down and there correspondence from another candidate, and also attached is a word document of his CV!
So I email the agent back this morning saying thanks but no thanks its too far, and tell him his mistake of attaching another candidates CV.
I geta shirty and rude reply telling me how bad I am for letting him down, bearing in mind the interview isn't for another day yet I think I have gave him plently notice.
So I give him long reply telling him how shoddy he is and how his conduct has let his company down
How do these people even get jobs?

the problem is that the pimps are sold the job of being a recruiter based on the fact you can earn loads of money - reality is that recruitment is an overfilled market full of cowboys driving down margins, the end clients are often more to blame than the pimps for not being able to plan in advance.
so the average recruiter quickly sees that the pot of gold was more a crock of sh*t and so motivation goes rock bottom and you guys experience the fall out from that.
I have to remind them to renew my contract with the client FFS.
The worst thing was the chap who was in charge of my contract (he's now left Reed). I'd phone them up and ask for him by name, he'd be the person answering the phone and say "Sorry he's out of the office today...".
