Screening agency will become tired of waiting for a reply from Recruitment agents, so they will ask you to provide your Accountant details from whom they will take details such as whether you were engaged in a role during that time

Currently going through employee screening checks and they seem to have quite strict requirements. They stipulate that they contact their own personal contacts instead of contacting referees that I give them to verify employment details. Is that a normal thing to do? Do they have a database of contacts from different recruitment agencies?
Additionally, my contracts all state 'consultant' but my on my CV I include my actual role title. Will that affect the reference checks?
