Would Contractors pay for Leads?

There is already a couple of sites like this in the UK. I subscribed to one (it was reasonable).

It was full of projects to tender for. Not much in my field.

If you are genuinely in business then subscribing to this kind of thing should be a no brainer.

I put in a couple of tenders for stuff too. If the IR come knocking I can at least show I am trying to be a business.

I am looking at setting this up as I think there would be demand for this sort of thing, if there were actual projects on there that were relevant to the UK Contractor market. i.e Development, Support , BA type roles.

I think most managers would be realistic enough to realise that a $10 an hour Developer wouldnt be the thing they are looking for and could then select the most relevant and cost effective bid.

Lead Generation businesses work well in other industries such as Construction & Media, so why not IT ??

I'd pay a subscription fee if you could guarantee that the contractors were all based in the UK market to ensure a level playing field. The problem with the current crop of sites such as the one you mentioned or Rent-A-Coder are that you get people from Romania bidding $100 for a full e-commerce solution or something ridiculous like that which can obviously not be competed with by someone in this country.

Having looked through the site though there were very few jobs that I would go for. most of it was for crappy web/.Net development

Come across a US Website called www.ifreelance.com

e.g Client X wants to source Contractors / Companies and can post details of their projects and requirements on a website.

Companies that want to have to subscribe to this website for a small fee.

This would cut out the middle man as such.
