Notice period

How long is a month?
I sadly had a contract terminated and need to calculate the amount they owe me.
I can't seem to find any official advice on how many days a month equates to, and of course it'll be in working days.

Does it run from the termination date to the same date of the following month? or perhaps the day before?
or is it simply 21 working days?

Any help appreciated.
