Make sure any emails you send are from your own business email address concerning this matter.
Discuss with whoever you work with at the client, confirm by email, then TELL the agency.
The client manager may not even know your contracted terms anyway and/or it might differ from the agent-client notice. Focus on maintaining goodwill - facilitate hand-over of work, no loose ends, be contactable post-contract, offer to return post-illness, as far as possible.
Btw, this better be genuine and not a ruse to bail from a contract going sour.
Thank you. If I had to leave, I would prefer doing a smooth handover. I do no have any other contract I am going to. This contract is good. I am just preparing myself in case I require any extended time off which could affect the project at later stage. Substitution is an option but since I have just started I am not sure if they would agree. I have not been in this situation before hence thought of asking a question here to get some help / advice to handle this situation in a better way

Speak to your agent first. They manage the relationship with your client. Out of courtesy, then speak to your client, letting them know you've told your agent. Work up the month's notice and leave. Leave on good terms and you may come back one day.

I am new to contracting (few months) and have been following this forum and have gained good understanding of various aspects of contracting.
I now need some advice. This was my second week on a new contract. Unfortunately, I am not feeling well since yesterday and I feel that I may need to take an extended break from work soon (worst case), I will see my GP next week. Contract allows my company to I give a months notice for termination whereas the agency would have considerably less notice period. I would appreciate if you could please give some advice on
- Who do I approach first Agency / Client, if I need to end this contract early?
- any other implications I should make myself aware of before I speak to either party
I am already searching this forum for information but I would appreciate if I get responses to my situation.
