    Question 1 is an odd question. People on here get advice for company contracts, tax regulations, company pension, VAT regulations etc from various professionals. Even when setting up a company if an professional did it they would advise you on how to allocate shares and the amount. So go back to the agency and ask them exactly what they mean by the question as it's ambiguous.

    In regards to 2 you have answered it.

    Contractor Checklist questionnaire

    Hi Folks,

    First time poster, hope I am in the right place !

    I am about to return to the world of contracting after a ten year break. I am starting my first contract next month. The agency involved have sent me a Contractor Checklist online (relating to MSC regulations) to complete which asks the following 2 questions ;

    1) Did you take professional advice when you commenced contracting via this company ? ('company' here meaning my own limited co.)

    2) Do you “Agree” or “Disagree” to the following statement: The company (or other entity) through which you contract is as an umbrella company which directly engages you and pays all your income to you under PAYE and net of National Insurance Contributions?

    I was going to answer 1) No and 2) Disagree, but I wanted to check first that there would not be any unforeseen negative impact of doing so. Does anyone have any advice to offer ?

    Thanks,
    pa.

Working...
