OP could consider purchasing a mailing list and using something like Mail Chimp. Might be a bit overkill, however.

Your clientbase sounds quite specific. Have you tried actually sending introductory letters via snail mail (on your letter headed stationary of course) to the firms in your geographic reach that match your specialism?

You can send your spam as long as you include an 'unsubscribe' link in the email.Originally posted by Neil Holmes View PostHi to everyone, I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I am looking at sending emails to businesses that I feel may have use of my services so I can increase my client base and gain new work. I am a H&S and first Aid trainer holding 5 NEBOSH Certificates (General, Construction, Fire, Environmental and Oil & Gas) as well as being an IOSH and NEBOSH accredited trainer.
My issue is that I don't want to fall foul of "spamming" but how can I send an introductory email to a business that has not "opted in" to accept emails from me if they haven't heard of me in the first place? It is a bit like the chicken and egg theory, I can't contact them by email as they haven't opted in but how can they opt in if they don't even know I exist?
Any advice that can be given will be greatly appreciated.
Neil
You could also make contacts first using Linked In or similar, seeding your list with relevant people from appropriate groups.

So basically you want to send spam. There is no law against it, just go for it.Email spam, also known as junk email or unsolicited bulk email (UBE), is a subset of electronic spam involving nearly identical messages sent to numerous recipients by email.
