    my god

I can see this is going to be difficult. I end each month with a few black cab reciepts (generally from being too lazy to get the tube after the pub).

I want to put them through the books. I feel dirty paying for them myself.

Perhaps I should have said "can be a bik".

In practical terms a lot of provided taxis would probably fail the test. I believe you have to be required to do the late working and not contracturally obliged to do so.

If public transport is still running then you are down to arguing about whether it is reasoble to use it for the claim to succeed.

It may well be that it doesn't end up on employees P11 but it, at least in theory, should.

However, the way this is dealt with at a number of companies is such that the company will fork out any tax due and the IR will audit in any compliance review with the company. Alternatively the company can exclude the expenditure from its allowable expense which has roughly the same effect.

If the company is providing frequent taxis or they are being provided where employees are not working late then there is a BIK but most companies would want to settle this on a PAYE settlement agreement and shoulder the cost themselves.

24th month rule - whats left to claim

OK, I've just put pen to paper on a new contract that will take me over 24 months in the city. Not the same site, but both within the "square mile".

So, given that I now fall foul of the 24 month rule, what can I still stick legit employee expense claims in for? I know standard to travel to client site etc is now out, but permies here at the bank get a taxi home and a free meal if they work late. There is no BIK on this for them, and obviosuly this IS there permananet work place.

Can my ltd co not, in a fit of generosity, provide the same to its employees ( ie me) when I work late? Of course Hector would have no idea when that was as Im on a daily rate. Being able to bag a few taxi recipts etc each month would make me smile, thinking of all those kids going without text books with the tax I save.

Any other tips for little things I can get away with now Im a "24 monther".

    cheers
