I noticed SEIS in the budget too and wondered what they were about.
Looks like they are new for the 12/13 tax year - HMRC link
It'll be interesting to see what products the existing EIS/VCT providers will be offering next year. I expect they'll do something as the 50% is a good selling point. SEIS looks like it is for much smaller companies though, so risks are clearly higher and may not scale well to a product for the bigger providers.

Seed Enterprise Investment Schemes
Was searching the budget report for mention of changes to EIS or VCTs and came across Seed Enterprise Investment Schemes (SEIS) which offer a 50% income tax relief.
I know they're obviously extremely risky but is anyone else considering investing like this? Where does one find such a company?Tags: None
