Agency Tricks ?

It's e equivalent of us writing different CVs to match certain roles. if they have no luck finding people, they may increase the role or try their luck by removing a skill they are having trouble finding.

Could be tricks.

Maybe they've used the carrot of the higher rate when really there is only the lower rate role.

Maybe they have all the candidates they need for the higher rate role.

Difficult to tell.

I saw 3 adverts from an agency advertising very similar sounding contracts, with increasing daily rates and increasing required skill sets. All 3 were advertised on the same date. Contracts 1 & 2 had the same individual at the agencys name next to it and Contract 3 had a different name

e.g.
Contract 1: Pays £200-£240 and requires skill A Contact Mr X
Contract 2: Pays £280-£320 and requires skills A & B Contact Mr X
Contract 3: Pays £320 and requires skills A & B & C Contact Mr Y

I haven't got skill C so I contacted the agency and applied for contracts 1 and 2.

They are now telling me that I'm not suitable for Contract 2 because it supposedly requires skill C (or equivalently they are trying to say that Contracts 2 and 3 were referring to the same role but they had slighly different advertised specs because the adverts were issued by different individuals at the agency). And they are suggesting I apply just for Contract 1 and show off/impress the client with any Skill B that I show.

Don't you think this is them conning me into doing a more demanding job for less than it was advertised as paying (i.e. conning me into doing Contract 2 for the rate of Contract 1) ?

Even if that is the case, I am inclined to accept Contract 1 if that is all they offer because it will still be miles more money than I'm getting now.
