I hope this is the right section of the forum for such questions.
I got in contact with an accounting company based in Nottingham called "GLOBAL PAYROLL SERVICES LTD". Does anyone have experience with them?
They offer a few interesting things but seem to charge at premium rates so I'm wondering if it's worth spending the extra cash.
1) They say I can claim for accommodation expenses which, at least based on what I've read so far, is arguable. This is my first contract in the UK, I'm an EU national with center of vital interests in my home country. I don't own any property here and I'm going to live in the same city my client site is. I don't have any address registration at that point, no NI, bank accounts, whatsoever. Still, what I understood is that you can claim accommodation in just 2 cases:
Case 1) Rent the place as an office - Put a desk, PC, etc. and work from there. Not an option in my case.
Case 2) Declare it as temporary accommodation - this implies going to your "real home" on a regular basis. In my case - paying a lot of money for airplane tickets, not a good option. Another one would be to rent together with a relative accommodation in a nearby city and travel there for the weekends. If I go for case 2 anyway - does the contract for the accommodation have to be under my company's name instead my personal name? I think so.
Any other options known?
2) They say it's possible claiming airplane tickets when going home to my country. I don't see how would that happen. I need to provide a justifiable business cause for such travels in relation to my contract - not a chance. Any other options this could work?
