From 2008 private companies don't actually need a company secretary at all. You can just have one director and no secretary now.

    Company Secretaries

When I registered the Ltd with Companies House I was made director and secretary, when I tried to open a business bank account Barclays made me sign something which terminated me as the Company Secretary as they said its best not to have the same person fill both positions.

Do I need to appoint a company secretary or is it not really required?
