I can't help you with how Australia does things I would just caution you to watch out because your UK company does not necessarily remain resident in the UK just by being registered there.

Some countries don't care but others decide that the company becomes resident in their jurisdiction at the same time the majority of the directors do.

Has anyone contracted in Australia through their own UK ltd?

I assume all travel and rent are valid expenses?

Were you UK resident for tax during that time? (Personal not company)
