If you work from home and have to visit for meetings or training, then you can just pretend you are doing on a vacation for a few days or get yourself a B1B business visa which allows you to conduct business in the US - but not work. If you want to work there and admit to that to immigration then get the US client to get the right visa for you.
You will also need sufficient (millions) insurance (liability etc) coverage - some brollies will exclude USA / Canada from their coverage and some allow it provided you do not work over there.
oh -and you might need advice from an accountant.
