3 grand is still quite a lot to me!
It's not a lot to a company. It's not a lot to an agency. It's not a lot to a solicitor. It's only a lot to a worker dependent on his wages. You may think you're so clever and classless and free, but you're still ******* peasants as far as I can see.

Have you tried phoning the accounts department directly? If that doesn't work try and speak to the MD or finance director if they have one.
    WHS.

It's amazing what a simple, polite phone call can do to speed things up in these cases. Letters & emails can be easily ignored or forgotten about.

Failing that, the small claim court normally works. If they're short of cash, it makes sense they'll only pay the people who are taking them to court.

Can you take it to small claims court?
That is one way of dealing with it. Possibly the most effective for this sort of sum.

If not, how about issue a winding up notice?
You can't just do that. You have to prove the debt first. This means ensuring it's not disputed. Can get fairly complex and usually a reasonable sized chunk of legal fees. [Having ensured it's not disputed this will usually focus their minds though]

WHS - I've taken a claim and won + interest for outstanding debt.

Agreed. Money Claim Online is the way forward with this.

When did 3 grand become not a lot of money?

Very soon, when the quantitative easing results in hyper-inflation.

Seriously though, I would have thought your solicitor could write a stiff letter on your behalf. He will probably charge you £100 for doing so, but there is no obligation to get him involved any further than that and it might have the desired effect.

I worked in an office chasing loan arrears years ago. We had an arrangement with a Solicitor and he would produce the initial stiff letter for free, but then we did use him for the more expensive ongoing battles.

EDIT - We wouldn't refer a case for £3,000 to the solicitor, those were usually written off. That was twenty years ago.
