I have a contract to provide infrastructure support to my client until the end of March. However, the infrastructure in question has been decomissioned already and there is consequently nothing for me to look after or worry about breaking.
This is all OK with me as the client is honouring the contract up to its expiration.
The "issue" is that the client, whilst appreciating the fact that I cannot possibly have any work to do, expect me to come in 9 - 5, monday to friday for the next 30 days or so. Basically, they want to change the nature of the contract (unoficially) so that they are simply paying for 35 hours of my time and dictating exactly what I do with it....... Predominantly looking out the window and reading a book.
Is this something they have the right to do? It's obviously not good for me (from an IR35 and sheer boredom point of view) and I'm curious to know what my position really is (as opposed to what the client dictates it to be).
Apologies if the question is unclear, or plain stupid...!!!
Thanks.
