I'm with the giant alien lizard. I always log my trips - this is usually plenty good enough for HMCR unless it seems like crazy mileage or in some other way suspicious.

Did you keep a log of your mileage? If so, show it to them. This in combination with a copy of your contract should suffice. If you did not keep a log, you'd better put one together quickly.

Expenses - mileage...again
Last year (2003-2004) I was on a 1 year contract.
I claimed a lot of mileage - going from my registered company address (home) to the client site - genuine miles.
HMRC are now querying my expenses for 03-04.
Do I have a leg to stand on ? Am I buggered ?
