Thanks for all the info everyone.

I called up the accountant in the end and they say they have a payslip which they're going to send to me, but they still expect the payment reminder to arrive some time soon. Could have done with a copy six months ago mind you. I presume the payslip is from the confirmation they got for the CT return. At least I can pay it before penalty interest kicks in now. If the reminder doesn't arrive I know something's not right.

Everything should be coming here as this is the registered address, or so I thought! I guess all this tax knowledge will become second nature with time. May yet ditch the accountant at some point after this palaver, but i'm not sure how much fuss that will be, or how much better others will be.

    Cheers

For corporation tax, HMRC write to the registered office address. If that is your accountant, co formation agent, solicitor, etc., then they should be forwarding to you. If your home is the reg office address and you changed it after the CT return was submitted, HMRC won't know you've moved, so you'll have to tell them, otherwise the tax paperwork will still be going to the old address.

Fair enough. I can't say that I'm looking forward to it.

You should get a notice complete a CT return (which has a CT payslip attached) at the end(ish) of your financial year. Then when you file your CT return you'll get an acknowledgment which will also have a payment slip attached.

If all else fails, send the cheque in with a covering letter remembering to put your CT ref both on the letter and on the back of the cheque.

Hmm I think i'm looking at a case of the accountant stuffing things up then if I was meant to get the payment reminder (with the payment details and reference number) 6 months ago!

Come to think of it, I haven't received anything from HMRC since I moved everything back in April. Company tax year ends 31st March, Corporation tax is due on 1st Jan 09.

Can anyone thing what else you expect to receive from HMRC in that part of the tax year, if anything at all?

    Thanks again

You can register and check your corp tax account online. Maybe too late for you now though

    Just give them a ring.

My registered office is supposed to have been updated yes, but i've only got my accountant's word that it's all been sorted.

Basically I was refering to the payment reminder notice i've heard you get from HMRC just before corporation tax is due. The CT600 etc was all done back in April (or so I hope!). I'm just waiting for this reminder to give me confirmation of the amount and payment instructions. I thought it would have arrived by now though, just over 3 weeks until it's due to be paid! I'm wondering whether to make some phone calls.

How long before the due date has it arrived for other companies?

How do you mean by payment slip? Normally you get a letter from HMRC about 4-5 months before it's due with a CT600 guide and form to complete. You can also check your due date on companies house website by searching your company info.

Also where is your registered office?? Have you updated it?
