If its a genuine business expense, and you have a VAT receipt, then you claim the VAT back. However if you are on the flat rate scheme, its a flat rate anyway - but its a good idea to have the receipts anyway

    VAT Flat Rate scheme

I started my Ltd company in April of this year and have just registered for the VAT flat rate scheme.

I know that I am able to claim back the VAT on some items that I have bought since starting the company and prior to becoming VAT registered but I'm not sure what qualifies.

I bought a laptop and a new pc and I know anything that is an asset qualifies. But what about things like hotel and food costs, or phone bills ?

Any help appreciated as I'm a bit lost.

Working...
