How much to fix last year's mess?? (Year End)
Okay, some of you will find my earlier post which included a mass of info about my situation. Basically my accountants screwed me over, and I have been left with no year end service, despite paying over £800 already.
I have prepared and submitted my returns ontime (P35/P60 etc), but immediately after this had to leave the country for personal circumstances. I had intended to sort it all out myself, and then hand it over to a new accountant, but unfortunately this wasn't possible.
So....the question I have now is:
How much will it cost to get year end accounts drawn up for last year? I am happy to have the same person who prepares last year's to take me on for this current year and future years as well (hoping this will generate some form of goodwill offering???)
I have 1 year's worth of trading, part year accounts are already drawn up for Apr - Dec which were used in a Visa Application. I have also not worked April - October, so there is minimal work to do for this year to date. Do you think this would allow me to negotiate something? (I know that 'most of the work is in year end, it's an annual fee etc etc' but given that they would not have had to look after me at all for over 6 months is worth something??).
I am really keen to get this mess sorted so that I can move forward with the current year and be back on track. I appreciate that I made some errors in my choice with my previous accountant, but am trying to find the best way to rectify this, without spending a fortune.
Would I be best trying someone local? I did get quoted £600 from one of the regular's mentioned on here, so is that the sort of figure I am seriously looking at having to pay??
Business info: Basic weekly invoicing, minimal expenditure (prof. fees/insurance/nothing out of the ordinary). Have salary calculations already for 2007/08, which were followed. Submitted year end returns (P35/P60) already. Basically need the companies house accounts drawn up, and someone to help me manage it all moving forward.
Hope someone can help and appreciate all comments and advice
