Yeah Cyprus is in the EU, and yes, it is registered for VAT.

It was just a general question I had. Thanks for clarifying

Cyprus in now in EU right? They should be registered in Cyprus for VAT and if they are invoicing out of Cyprus to UK based company, then they needn't charge VAT. At least thats how it works for invoicing out of the UK.

Can I ask why you want to know this as its largely irrelevant to your contract I would have thought.

Vat Registration

I have been contracting in the UK for a year, and am employed by a Cypriot Company which holds the contract for the work being done in the UK. The Cypriot company has been raising the invoices for the work done in the UK, but not been charging VAT on the invoice, and is not currently registered for VAT in the UK. The amounts invoiced exceed GBP70k per annum.

Can anyone advise on what needs to be done, if anything to rectify the situation?
