You should have got a P45 when you left your umbrella. This would details the tax you've paid. Get this and send it to your accountant.

Cheers for the help people.
I'll have a look through the payslips and see what I can find.

What he said...Originally posted by Hex View PostI would have thought the umbrella would have paid you net of NI and income tax as they would be paying you via PAYE.
Go back through your payslips and have a look to see if they deducted income tax. If so, then you shouldn't have any more tax to pay.

Tax burden as subcontractor via MSC?
Hi,
I was using an MSC to provide my service to clients. Obviously, this all changed last April and so I stopped working for a limited company via my umbrella company and became a subcontractor via my umbrella comapny instead.
This lasted for approx. 3 months before I set up my own ltd company.
As I understand it, I was paid everything I earnt, less the umbrella fees and NIC - I believe I needed to save a wedge in order to pay my own tax.
Now, unsuprisingly, the MSC is no longer, but I have not had a tax bill for my time as a subcontractor. My accountant is unable / not really trying to work out what tax I owe, and any attempts I have made to contact the umbrella company have proved fruitless.
Now my tax bill is due for my ltd company, I would have well expected to see something for my previous tax burden by now.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can resolve this please?
I have the cash saved, but just dont want to be on the wrong side of the taxman!
Thanks in advance,
