    I agree. The deal that I get with my clients is "if you don't like what we book, someone else will be going on this jolly instead of you".

    Of course, whether this works depends upon how many opportunities you get to travel. If (like me) it's once every 4 years you're more likely to accept than if it's 4 times a month.

    In my current contract it states that up to £120/night can be claimed for hotels and an extra £10/day if I am overseas for incidental charges. All travel to other sites will be paid for by then at standard 40p/mile rate/standard train fare/standard flights.

    If I want to upgrade I can but then I pay for it which seems fair to me.

    If I ever did have to take a flight it would be to Boston where their American office is based so it would be over a 4 hour flight

    I want to add provision in my contract (direct with the client not via agency) for additional expenses over and above travel to and from the normal place of business. The job may include travel to US and AUS so wanted to add that the cost and class of flights and hotels accom will be in line with the company policy (if such policy exists) or if not as follows:
